The single a mix of reggaeton and pop music did not just bring attention to reggaeton but it also attracted attention to Latin music more generally. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish mostly, and four songs in the year 2016. But during the peak of the Despacito's popularity in 2017 there were 19 mostly Spanish tracks that made the top 100. And in 2020 it was 41. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 as a bilingual rendition. Then, various artists collaborated with Reggaeton stars like Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma and Medellin 2019 The mainstreaming of reggaeton was an issue for some artists in the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation determined to maintain the style. The group incorporated elements from different genres and electronic music.
